<p style="text-align: justify;">The ability to negotiate is a very important skill in a project manager. The Negotiation is used during all phases of the project.<br />
People with whom you negotiate include donors, project partners, national authorities and local, external consultants, project workers.<br />
In this manual, we can not provide you a comprehensive overview of the qualities of a negotiator.<br />
However, we can give you rules and tips for making you a better negotiator.<br />
Before starting the actual course on negotiation skills, should be<br />
pause a moment on a very important element of negotiation: Communication.<br />
It helps to establish a certain level of confidence, reduce tension and to better understand<br />
the other party. To communicate effectively, you must:<br />
· Encourage dialogue;<br />
· Use your voice effectively;<br />
· Interpret body language and know how to react;<br />
· Listen carefully;<br />
· To understand your points of view expressed in the writing.<br />
Sometimes you must also put you in the shoes of another.<br />
In trying to see things with the eyes of the other party, you will become aware of the matters it considers important and the underlying reasons.</p>
