These three major changes (globalization, dematerialization, late extensive growth) are of such magnitude as to call into question the formulas entrepreneurial heritage. Indeed, globalization leads to dramatic problems of scale, to expand their operational scale to new markets worldwide, redistribute their assets among different countries (emerging from the channels and local terzismo located in “long networks” in which there are new customers and new suppliers). We must also cope with higher volumes or higher quality products, the fall in margins.

Dematerialisation challenge the culture and the prevailing type of investment that are attested to the manufacture and calls for a projection of businesses downstream in the value chain, to functions and professionalism that are now scarce in the territory of the economy widespread and are typical of large metropolitan centers for businesses that need it.

The transition to intensive growth requires investments in intangible resources and a different relationship with the territory, to increase the productivity of labor and space used. The great metropolitan centers, after a period of eclipse for the qualitative and quantitative growth of the “suburbs” are flourishing: they focus because those intangibles that are high in knowledge and reports that the highly decentralized production systems – such as as some large companies are struggling to establish themselves. In all cases, the strategic imperatives that, according to our interpretation, should be prosecuted for actions on possible weaknesses in the industrial system are mainly three principal :

1) increase;
2) differentiation;
3) investing in human resources and territorial services of quality.
